Step by Step Guide to Healthier Living

Raise your hand if you know where your 2019 goals are written down. Now keep your hand up if you have checked off at least half of them. All of them? If your hand is still up, give yourself a huge pat on the back for getting it done and start looking at what you want to accomplish next! If not, don’t worry the year isn’t over yet. 2020 is 72 days away, which is more than enough time to make a dent in some, reevaluate others and add new ones to the list.

Personal, professional, and wellness goals usually take months if not years to accomplish. They can become very overwhelming, causing us to overlook or discard them altogether. However, with proper planning, you can tackle the bigger ones with ease.

First, we have to start by breaking them down into smaller more obtainable goals. Let's say you want to buy a house in 2020. Instead of just writing that down, create a list of tasks (or "smaller goals") that need to be done in order to make this a reality. Such as finding a realtor, checking your credit score, speaking to a mortgage lender to see what type of house you can afford, creating a budget for it, narrowing down where you want to live, etc.

Once we've done that, all of these smaller tasks will help us discover if our timeline for reaching this goal is doable or needs to be adjusted. If it takes us a little longer than originally expected, no problem. Meanwhile checking these things off our list one by one will continue to propel us towards our ultimate goal.

It is nearly impossible to reach these life-changing goals if they stay floating around in our heads; we have to be more strategic and proactive.
