Overwhelmed By Meal Prep? Try This Instead...

Mother and daughter cooking together in kitchen.

What if I told you that healthy eating doesn’t have to feel complicated or take up hours of your time?

I know it can be overwhelming — we live in a world with endless nutrition advice and it’s too easy to feel paralyzed by all of the options.

And after 10 years of helping people navigate fueling their body properly and consistently moving their body intentionally...

I’ve realized that the key to making it all work is to keep it SIMPLE.

Here are a few of my favorite ways to make your nutrition feel easy and doable, even when life gets busy:

1. Use the “Plate Method.”

Instead of worrying about counting every calorie, try:

  • Fill half your plate with colorful veggies

  • A quarter with quality protein

  • And the last quarter with a healthy carb

  • Add a drizzle of healthy fats like olive oil or some avocado

It’s easy to customize and this works whether you’re meal-prepping or eating on the go!

2. Have 3-5 Go-To Meals on Rotation.

When you’re short on time (and hungry!), it’s way too easy to grab whatever’s convenient. That’s why I recommend having a rotation of quick, nutritious meals ready to make on the fly.

For me, that looks like:

  • Overnight oats or a protein smoothie pack loaded with fruits & veggies

  • Pre-cooked chicken and a bag of steamable vegetables

  • A bag of pre-mixed salad and canned/pre-cooked protein to add to it

3. Batch-Prep What Matters Most.

If a large meal prep session feels like it’s too much, just prep a couple of basics!

Roast a tray of veggies or cook a batch of quinoa that you can use throughout the week.

The goal isn’t to be perfect — but to make healthy eating as simple as possible.

Your healthy habits should work for YOU, not the other way around.
